Cosmos 3 is organized into three model families. Cosmos-predict generates synthetic environments and scenarios for training robots. Cosmos-transfer bridges the visual gap between simulated and real-world environments, converting structured inputs like depth maps and segmentation data into photorealistic outputs. Cosmos-reason enables robots to understand and anticipate the physical consequences of their actions. The platform has been downloaded over 3 million times since its initial release.
The companies using Cosmos 3 span industries. In surgery, CMR Surgical uses the platform to validate its Versius robotic surgical system before clinical deployment, and Johnson & Johnson MedTech applies it to its Monarch Platform. Under RaaS, the service provider retains ownership and typically remains responsible for keeping the robot maintained, updated, and compliant with safety standards. However, the RaaS model also complicates the liability picture. In the private sector, BMW is applying AI-driven maintenance systems across its manufacturing operations, and DHL is integrating autonomous robotic systems into its warehouse logistics.
A survey of robotics engineers found that 53.7% believe high-level adaptive autonomy in robots is achievable within five years. If that projection holds, the near future will see robots that do not simply follow instructions but adapt their behavior based on changing conditions, prior experience, and real-time analysis.
